So Gretchen told a story in her video on Projectlifesize today that really stuck with me.
There is a man, and he is telling his friend about the two wolves that live inside him. One is mean. He tells him that he is worthless and ugly and fat. The other wolf loves him, telling him he’s beautiful and worthy of love and wonderful. The man’s friend asks, “well, which one wins?”
I have nice eyes. I am not an unattractive girl. I have a great personality. I make people laugh, I’m fun to be around. People can trust me, I’ve been told I’m a great friend. I love everyone and have no enemies. I was prom queen in high school. I’m in college and I’m going to be a teacher. I have made my parents very proud. They love me. But I’m fat (like literally. I’m 5’4” and 255 pounds but I don’t care I love who I am!!) I want to find love. I want someone to love me for who I am, like I have learned to love myself. I’m always the friend and never the girlfriend..I don’t want to die alone.
Burt:Do you promise to let our daughter be fat or skinny or any weight at all? Because we want her to be happy, no matter what. Being obsessed with weight is just too cliché for our daughter.
Verona:Yes, I do. Do you promise, when she talks, you'll listen? Like, really listen, especially when she's scared? And that her fights will be your fights?
Burt:I do. And do you promise that if I die some embarrassing and boring death that you're gonna tell our daughter that her father was killed by Russian soldiers in this intense hand-to-hand combat in an attempt to save the lives of 850 Chechnyan orphans?
